Career and College Preparation

Clinton County RESA CTE is excited about the college and career preparation we provide. Below you will find various resources used to help students prepare for their future.

Direct College Credit
Direct college credit in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program allows high school students to earn official college credit for specific, aligned courses completed in high school. This is made possible through formal agreements between CCRESA and a partner college or university, which ensures the high school curriculum meets postsecondary standards. Students need to enroll in the partner college, achieve a minimum grade (often a "C" or better), and meet other criteria to have these credits listed on an official college transcript, saving them time and money on their future education.

Articulated College Credit
Articulated college credit allows high school students in a CTE program to earn potential college credit for specific high school courses, which is awarded only after they enroll in a partnering postsecondary institution. The student must meet specific requirements—often achieving a minimum grade and enrolling in college within a set timeframe—to formally receive these credits. This opportunity provides a pathway for students to potentially save time and tuition costs when pursuing further education in a related field.

The Capital Region Technical Early College (CRTEC) program is an innovative, structured educational model that blends high school and college, allowing students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and significant college credit, often an associate's degree, at little to no cost. These programs are designed in close partnership with a local college and provide extensive academic support to help students navigate rigorous college-level coursework. This approach accelerates their postsecondary success, saving time and money while easing the transition into a four-year institution or career pathway.
