CAD & Design Technology
The CAD and Design Technology program provides a project-based environment where students master professional 2D and 3D modeling software for engineering and architecture. Participants gain immersive experience in product design, 3D printing, and architectural blueprinting, preparing them for advanced technical degrees or careers in modern manufacturing and construction. This pathway bridges creative vision with technical precision, empowering students to transform original concepts into functional physical models and structural designs.
- Hands-on Activities- In CAD, students will master industry-standard tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Revit to draft everything from high-tech engine parts to massive, multi-story skyscrapers. Students will create blueprints, 2D and 3D models, and have the opportunity to earn industry credentials. They will learn to bridge the gap between imagination and reality.
- Real World Opportunities- In this class, students will network with professional guest speakers, participate in college visits, and showcase their talent through state competitions.
- Related Careers- Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Interior Designer, CAD Technician, Landscape Architect, and many more
- Architecture College Credit is available as a state-wide articulated program. Students who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to earn college credit from:
- Lake Superior State University
- Macomb Community College
- Mid Michigan College
- North Central Michigan College
- Oakland Community College
- Engineering College Credit is available as a state-wide articulated program. Students who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to earn college credit from:

Work Experience in Career Field: 40 years in the industry
What inspired you to teach in your program career field? My high school drafting teacher inspired me to teach my passion for design to others. I also wanted to coach football and baseball.
What are some interests outside of the classroom? Spending time with my grandkids, sports, hunting, enjoying the outdoors, and designing homes.
How do you hope your students will remember you? That I cared about them as both a CAD student and an individual. Also, that I inspired them to always give their best effort.
