Construction Trades
The Construction Trades program provides immersive, field-based experience covering the entire residential building process, from framing to electrical, plumbing installation, and completing interior and exterior finishes. Students develop technical proficiency in core building procedures while learning the safety and operational standards required for the modern skilled trades. This comprehensive training prepares students for immediate workforce entry or advanced placement in construction management degree programs.
- Hands-on Activities- In the Construction Trades class, students gain industry-ready skills by building functional items to master the safe operation of construction tools. They advance to trade-specific "mock-up" stations where they practice residential wiring, flooring, trim, and learn to hang and finish drywall.
- Real World Opportunities- In this class, students will network with professional guest speakers, have the opportunity to build projects within the community, and visit industry experts.
- Related Careers- Contractor, Demolition Worker, Electrician, Masonry, Construction Manager, Building Inspector, and many more.
- Architecture College Credit is available as a state-wide articulated program. Students who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to earn college credit from:
- Gogebic Community College
- Northern Michigan University
